City Tour around Monte Hermoso

Pleasant from every perspective, the small but captivating District of Monte Hermoso has its own fans, in addition to its permanent denizens. This is a tour around the city.

In the South of the Province of Buenos Aires, lies one of the warmest seaside resorts in the country, both due to the temperature of its waters and the friendliness of its people: Monte Hermoso.

Ever since its origin, it was constituted as a family destination where the inhabitants of the large nearby urban centers, such as Bahía Blanca or Tres Arroyos, used to spend the summer. As time went by, more and more tourists began to visit this place, arriving from remote locations in the country.

Over 30 kilometers of beaches and its privileged geographic location make it possible to see the sun on the horizon both at sunrise and sunset.

Today, the beach clubs are quite varied. They attract several generations who approach them in search of amusement, quietness, good music and also delightful cuisine, for many of them, their raison d’être.

Likewise, summer sports and recreational activities, such as beach volleyball, soccer, tejo championships, aerobics and even salsa or Afro-Cuban music lessons may be enjoyed.

Since it is a very windy area, regattas, jet ski or windsurfing championships are usually organized in the area. However, the rage of the last few years has been kite surfing. A mixture of paragliding and windsurfing, this sport succeeds in combining air and water, and hundreds of enthusiasts gather to practice it at Monte Hermoso every summer.

As it is a very quiet place, fishing is another popular activity that summons the largest number of fans summer after summer. Anglers show off by catching flathead, weakfish, grouper, conger and palometa specimens.

Long ago, cornalitos, anchovy, soles and the coveted shrimp would be caught at the reinforced concrete pier but this giant was destroyed by a storm and now it only lives in the memory of those who once witnessed its impressive presence.

For those who are interested in history and nature when they visit a new place, this city boasts two museums that lure many tourists, especially when the weather conditions are not appropriate to spend the day on the beach.

The Natural Science Museum and the Naval Museum, as well as Recalada Lighthouse, are visited by a great deal of people who learn a little bit more about the area after touring around these venues.

A few kilometers away, lies one of the most eye-catching lagoons in the Province of Buenos Aires, known as Sauce Grande. Besides featuring a nice bathing resort, this is one of the best sites to try and catch silverside, both in the winter and very early on summer days.

There is no doubt that all these tourist attractions turn Monte Hermoso into one of the best destinations to spend the vacations with the family.
