Zip-lining at the Juramento River

The Juramento River and its steep banks may now be visited and toured from the air through the largest canopy circuit in South America.

Apart from its beauty, the Juramento River Canyon is the ideal scenery for the practice of various adventure activities. In addition to the classical river rafting, canopy tours are enjoyed in this area: an amusing activity for all those who wish to experience the feeling of sliding through the air without making a major effort.
Canopy tours consist in sliding along steel wires following a special system of platforms and using professional climbing gear.

Salta Rafting has designed this interesting tour across the heights of the Juramento Canyon. The circuit invites visitors to travel along 3 kilometers over the river canyon at an average speed of 30 kph. The “Condor's Flight”, which is the name given to this tour, presents spectacular panoramic sights with good doses of vertigo and amusement.

After listening to the instructions at the base of Salta Rafting and having learned how to use the gear correctly in order to enjoy this adventure in a safe and comfortable way, the guide led us towards Mount Peñas Blancas. Provided with harnesses, gloves, helmets and carabiners, and after climbing for 15 minutes, we reached the first platform, from where we got a beautiful sight of the entire canyon.

The first wire, which is 109 meters long, is the shortest one so as to try the technique and feel comfortable with the equipment. The wire crossing the entire canyon leaves from the second platform. It is 349 meters long and is located at a height of 140 meters over the river.

Thus, adventurers go from one canopy platform to another over the canyon until they reach the starting point. The height of the cables ranges between 80 and 150 meters over the level of the river, with a variable length of 100 to 500 meters. For this reason, a speed of 35 kph may be reached in some stretches, which makes visitors feel as if they were flying.

wise, each stop is an invitation to beholding this wild scenery and, if visitors pay special attention, they can listen to and watch some condor, the white herons, eagles, bigúaes, charatas and parrots, among other local birds. Ocassionaly, some fox, collared peccary, honey bearbrocket may be spotted from the air.
In this sense, the Condor's Flight canopy tour offers adventure and excitement in the beautiful geography of the Juramento River.
