Complejo Teleférico Salta is one of the main tourist attractions in the capital city.
This means of transportation enables visitors to enjoy the thrill of beholding a vast part of the valleys where the city is nestled -the Valley of Lerma. Likewise, tourists may appreciate the whims of nature at the moment of populating this green mountain range with subtropical flora that embellishes the surrounding elevations and then reach Mount San Bernardo, a symbolic icon in the city, ever since its foundation.
From this place, standing approximately 1,500m above sea level, architecture is in harmony with the scenery and the lush vegetation. The terraces and balconies of the resort have been built with rocks taken from the mount and give visitors wonderful panoramic views. In the distance, the roads to Cafayate and Campo Quijano, the World Cup Stadium and the city outskirts may be observed. The skyline is ornamented with the domes of La Merced, San Francisco and San Alfonso churches, as well as the Cathedral dome, which is easily made out from the rest of the buildings, just like the Cabildo and the rest of the constructions surrounding 9 de julio Square.
Also in the distance, San Lorenzo village and the road to Vaqueros and La Caldera may be made out. A little closer, the Battle of Salta Monument, best known amongst the dwellers of Salta as 20 de febrero (February 20th), as it is the date on which the victory of General Belgrano in 1813 is commemorated.
Behind the vantage points, the constant murmur of the artificial cascade is always present and invites visitors to relax and behold the landscape and see beautiful Salta from another perspective.
Faithful to its religious tradition, Mount San Bernardo displays the image of the Patron Saint of the city, after which the mount has been named. There is also a cross which was placed there in 1901. Two years later, a statue of Saviour Christ was nestled there.
With an amphitheater where various events are presented, an area for sports recreation, a coffee-shop, a craftsmen market, photographic services, a panoramic viewpoint, gift shops, a space specially designed for children, an ecologic promenade to enjoy nature in all its splendor, the resort located on Mount San Bernardo offers various proposals to discover the capital of Salta from its scenes and its cultural heritage.
