Yate Tango, A Luxury Ushuaia Can Afford

Undoubtedly, this is the tour of the year, of the decade, of the century. This small boat has such good vibes that nobody wants to get off. It is boarded by Passengers and disembarked by friends. A real must.

There are proposals we will never forget. When we have the chance to experience them, we must not miss it. That was what this was all about.

The idea was to tour around beautiful Ushuaia on board a small yacht accommodating 12 passengers: a real luxury. So, after making contact with Rafael, we arranged that I would join the group in order to enjoy this famous adventure, considered one of the best organized and amusing by the entire city.

We set sail at a tourist pier located in the Port of Ushuaia. The captain was in charge, along with a bilingual guide sailor that entertained us from the moment we got on board. The boat headed for the Beagle Channel. Our first stop would be Alicia Island, where we spotted incredible sea lions, both South American and fur seals. This place is ideal for visitors to see the differences between both species.

Amid anecdotes, stories and jokes, the voyage continued towards Isla de los Pájaros (Island of Birds), dwelled by imperial shags, south American terns and other birds that belong in these latitudes. Before we could realize, one of the most representative icons in the City of Ushuaia appeared before us. It was the very same icon we all can see on photographs, posters, handicrafts and the like: the mythic Les Eclaireurs Lighthouse. It has paid service since December 23, 1920.

By then, the group had already bonded and, after a series of endless photographs, including selfies and sharing, we came close to a beautiful island called Bridge where we landed on a small pier.

Once there, we went on a half-hour walk that showed us how difficult it was for the first settlers to live in these lands. Our guide talked to us about what we saw. He gave us a perfect account of the Fuegian flora and fauna. It was really educational. We also learned about the Yamana natives that used to live in this area and were amazed to hear how they became adapted to this territory and survive. We received valuable knowledge we would always treasure from our guide.

During the almost 4 hours we shared on board, we were served various hot beverages that contributed memorable aromas: coffee, tea, Argentinian mate, hot chocolate, soft drinks, wine and the famous Fuegian craft beer everyone craved to taste. All this is included in the ticket.

Nobody wanted to get off ….
