A Ride around Estancia San Guillermo

The venue presents several activities for visitors to tour around and see the natural beauty of this site.

Estancia San Guillermo is one of those sites where nature is manifested at each nook. That was our destination, where we would enjoy activities related to rural men’s life: horseback riding, hiking tours across the fields and even a visit to the sea lion colony located at Punta Loma in order to watch these local specimens.

As we got there, our eyes met a huge surface. The field where Estancia San Guillermo is located features a total surface of 2,700 hectares and lies just 8 kilometers away from the shores of Golfo Nuevo. It boasts unknown almost unspoiled beaches very few visitors manage to discover. This ensures that the local nature remains impeccable.

Likewise, we could appreciate that the estancia facilities are simply spectacular. The site is ideal to listen to silence, to observe the pre-historical plateau, the reddish sunsets and to enjoy the soft sound of the sea.

Of course we could not miss contact with animals. We came across some funny domesticated guanacos which posed with us for some pictures.

Another great option available at the estancia is hiking. Wearing comfortable clothes and bearing all the necessary material, we set out along a trail that led to the pigs’ farm.

Then, we went down some deep gullies that used to be covered by the sea 30 million years ago. At this spot, we found some fossils that make up a unique biological and paleontological circuit, worth visiting and being photographed. In general, the white sediments from the Patagonian sea may be seen on the cliffs and the ochre sediments lying on the white ones belong to the so-called Entrerriense sea.

According to the information provided by our guide, the sea has entered Patagonia twice and covered large portions of land. This implies that the Earth crust used to be lower in the past and that it has experienced a vertical movement.

To sum up, Estancia San Guillermo is an ideal destination to visit with the family. Everyone will enjoy it: children, teenagers and grown-ups may choose the activities they like best. But one thing is true: whatever they pick, they will feel the purity of Mother Nature, all around.
