Tiger Waterfall

From Villa de Merlo you can hire an excursion to Salto del Tigre, a waterfall hidden between the Sierras de los Comechingones and the Calamuchita Valley. For lovers of photography, the promenade proposes an incredible landscape between mountains and ravine to get the perfect images of the geography whosena, until you reach the most incredible waterfall.


To the waterfall

The journey itself begins in the Serrano Edge of the mountains whose wools. There you reach by the path of the Faldeo de los Comechingones and cross several viewpoints towards the Conlara Valley. Then a gravel road that crosses the boundary between provinces reaches the summit post, where the car is parked. From this post, the walk of about 2.5 km is of low difficulty to conclude the crossing and embrace the surroundings of the waterfall. It is advisable to wear suitable footwear because the trail is very stony and the rocks along the way are part of the landscape.

Antes de llegar al salto, se lo puede observar desde las alturas. La sorpresa es inigualable y la cascada, casi inexplicable en su belleza y magnitud. Lo bonito es bajar hasta la orilla de la hoya y disfrutar el entorno como cada persona lo perciba. El marco predispone a tocar el agua, zambullirse luego de la travesía si las temperaturas lo permiten, disfrutar de un pícnic o simplemente observar esta maravilla de la naturaleza en pleno corazón de las sierras.

La cascada sorprende a todos los visitantes con sus 25 m de altura. La hoya tiene unos 40 m de diámetro y 10 m en su parte más profunda. Aunque este paseo se gestiona en Villa de Merlo, el atractivo natural pertenece al Valle de Calamuchita, en la provincia de Córdoba.

Es frecuente ver a las ovejas que pastan en las quebradas y el marco se vuelve aún más bucólico. Al regreso, hay oportunidad de almorzar en el puesto, comprar unas ricas empanadas fritas o saborear unos mates al aire libre antes de volver a la ciudad.
