Wineries in Mendoza

ue to the extension of the Province of Mendoza, it is necessary to divide it into zones, according to their significantly different weather, height and soil characteristics.
High Zone of the Mendoza River: with heights ranging from 800 to 1,100m over sea level and various microclimates, this is a zone where almost all noble varieties of wine have easily become adapted. Malbec outstands.
Northern Zone: zone suitable for fruity white and young red wines, with a height from 600 to 700m.
Eastern Zone: with a height ranging from 600 to 700m, this is the most productive wine zone in the province.
Uco Valley: this is a zone of colder weather and higher altitudes (between 800 and 1,400m over sea level). The largest part of the vineyards is located on the Pre-mountain range slopes. Wines with very good acidity are obtained.
San Rafael: with heights ranging from 450 to 800m. In 1993, the San Rafael Origin Denomination is implemented.
The Province of Mendoza is the most traditional area in the viticultural industry and the wineries settled there deserve an independent chapter each. It is impossible to talk about Mendoza without mentioning each one of them: López, Valentín Bianchi, San Telmo, Escorihuela, Cavas de Weinert, J&F Lurton, Trapiche, Flichman, La Rural, Norton, Félix Lavaque, Lagarde, Navarro Correas, Nieto Senetiner, Goyenechea, Chandon. You can tour the Mendoza wineries and vineyards either by a private and customized tour or by joining any of the pre-arranged Wine Tours offered.

Terrazas de los Andes
Terrazas de los Andes

This venue is a part of Chandon Argentina and is exclusively devoted to the making of varietal wines. This is a winery whose concept synthesizes the benefit of height to manage wines of a unique quality.
Each variety is grown on a terrace located at a certain altitude in order to reach the maximum expression of their aromas and flavors: at the Perdriel terraces, standing 980 m.a.s.l., cabernet sauvignon grapes reach the point of optimum ripeness. So does malbec at the Vistalba terraces, 1,067 m.a.s.l, chardonnay in the Tupungato Valley, 1,200 m.a.s.l., and Syrah at Cruz de Piedra, 800 m.a.s.l.
This place used to be a Spanish winery founded in 1898, where Pedro Domecq would make his brandy. Thirty years later, Terrazas de los Andes was inaugurated on the same spot. Fine wines with delicate body and distinction which have captured the attention of international palates are made here.

Situated in Luján de Cuyo since 1901, this venue is an unquestionable reference at the time of traveling the along the Route of Wine.
Founded by don Leoncio Arizu, as time went by, love for winemaking was passed on from generation to generation. This family winery manages the well-known trademark of Luigi Bosca wines. The remarkable growth fostered by its positioning in the Argentinian market and its wide expansion into the five continents has turned this winery into a protagonist of the creation of the Denominación de Origen Controlada Luján de Cuyo (Luján de Cuyo Controlled Origin Denomination), and has led it to launch the first DOC labeled malbec in Argentina and Latin America.
Leoncio Arizu - Luigi Bosca is one of the wineries to be most awarded worldwide, and has received important prices and high distinctions since 1987 to this date, with significant gold, silver and bronze medals.
At present, the Arizus maintain essential values such as quality and prestige, which have been consolidated for over a century. They have also incorporated cutting-edge technology responding to the strict demands of their customers both in Argentina and in the rest of the world.
