Due to the extension of the Province of Mendoza, it is necessary to divide it into zones, according to their significantly different weather, height and soil characteristics.
High Zone of the Mendoza River: with heights ranging from 800 to 1,100m over sea level and various microclimates, this is a zone where almost all noble varieties of wine have easily become adapted. Malbec outstands.
Northern Zone: zone suitable for fruity white and young red wines, with a height from 600 to 700m.
Eastern Zone: with a height ranging from 600 to 700m, this is the most productive wine zone in the province.
Uco Valley: this is a zone of colder weather and higher altitudes (between 800 and 1,400m over sea level). The largest part of the vineyards is located on the Pre-mountain range slopes. Wines with very good acidity are obtained.
San Rafael: with heights ranging from 450 to 800m. In 1993, the San Rafael Origin Denomination is implemented.
The Province of Mendoza is the most traditional area in the viticultural industry and the wineries settled there deserve an independent chapter each. It is impossible to talk about Mendoza without mentioning each one of them: López, Valentín Bianchi, San Telmo, Escorihuela, Cavas de Weinert, J&F Lurton, Trapiche, Flichman, La Rural, Norton, Félix Lavaque, Lagarde,
Navarro Correas, Nieto Senetiner, Goyenechea, Chandon. You can tour the Mendoza wineries and vineyards either by a private and customized tour or by joining any of the pre-arranged Wine Tours offered.

Bodega Zuccardi
Mendoza
Websiteemail
Familia Zuccardi is a family business started in 1963 by engineer Alberto Zuccardi. While enjoying great prestige throughout the country, during the 1980s, the Zuccardis resolved to reconvert their vineyards aiming at the production of high quality varieties. This strategic location, led by José Alberto Zuccardi –son of the founder and present director of the winery-, gave its first great result with the creation of one of the wine trademarks that represent Argentina in the world today: Santa Julia. In 2005, the winery took a step beyond when it presented its icon wine at Vinexpo, France: it was Zuccardi Zeta, a Malbec and Tempranillo mixture awarded a prize as one of the ten revelations of said fair. Familia Zuccardi is well-known for their constant innovative work, as a result of the permanent introduction of non-traditional grape varieties in Argentina, such as Bonarda, Viognier, Caladoc, Ancellotta and Marselan. As well, and through the creation of new products, the winery stands out for having given way to new wine consumption situations, succeeding in this task through the development of the first late-harvest wine in Argentina, Santa Julia Tardío, and the first fortified wine trademark in the country: Malamado.
Bodegas López
Maipú, Mendoza
Websiteemail
Bodegas López is a excepcional case within the Argentinian winegrowing industry. Started in 1898, it continues to be owned by the founding family after over 113 years of tradition offering the same quality, forging a history based on labor and love of detail. In 1994, don José Federico López handed the company over to his children Carlos Alberto López, present president, and Martha López, vice president of the board of directors. Along with the fourth generation of the López family, they made up a winery lineage joined by love and passion for great wine. The particular features of the López wines, which provide their true character and identity, start with painstaking cultural work in the vineyards and a neat control of the ripeness and grape selection processes.
Thus, the winery`s motto: "Time and patience devoted to ageing is not asked from you, we ourselves do it”. Grown for four generations, the traditional and already famous López style remains faithful to its tradition.
