El Nihuil

The tourist village known as El Nihuil is an ideal settlement to spend the weekend or the summertime. The nearby dam shelters countless liters of water used to generate hydroelectric energy and to irrigate the entire province.

First some cabins or houses provided accommodation for the night for travelers who had ventured from San Rafael, the nearest city. But today, El Nihuil has plenty of merits of its own to have become a destination itself.

Maybe because of the vastness of the site or the low frequency of fishing, everybody catches a fish at El Nihuil. Also, visitors to this place may have a picnic, camp or go for long walks and mountain bike rides around its neverending shore.
