The Resin Museum

We visited the Resin Museum and discovered the various shapes adopted by this particular material. An important tourist attraction a few steps from Villa Carlos Paz.

Very close to Villa Carlos Paz, in the community of San Antonio de Arredondo and only 10 kilometers from the mountain range tourist destination, the particular Resin Museum, unique in its style in the Province of Córdoba, may be visited. Inside its venue, we discovered everything that may be done with this particular element based on oil.

At present, the museum has over 6,500 pieces, including original works and replicas, distributed into seven exhibition rooms.

Its present director and founder, Mr. Miguel Saletti, along with his two sons -Esteban and Gustavo- have developed this modeling technique with the purpose of reproducing pieces of high paleontological or museological value and thus foster the knowledge of plastic arts.

The museum officers, its director and the craftsmen committee, researchers, scientists and museologists have succeeded in printing a didactic and modern sense into its exhibitions thus managing great dynamism. Lessons are given to teach how to work with resin. All kinds of art pieces are sold and traditional guided tours are available for visitors to understand the process of transformation of resin.

The museum has a captivating cabinet with curious items, wonders and strange things, where remarkable objects related to applied art and science -especially paleo art (dinosaur fossils)- are kept.

There are also several collections of frames, beveled mirrors, ornaments, murals, plates, coats of arms and clocks. Among other things, visitors may observe how billiards balls are made, a collection of Maya sculptures and an Aztec calendar.

Various techniques are used to print the final details on the art pieces. Some of them are oil, acrylic, watercolor and patina.

It is important to point out that the museum is open 365 days a year from 9 o’clock in the morning till sunset. The total funds collected through the entrance ticket are destined to the maintenance of the facilities.

The various rooms are dedicated to the following materials:
Room 1: the strange and the ancient about heraldry.
Room 2: genealogy, coats of arms, murals, ornaments and weapons.
Room 3: collection of amazing rock crystallization. Gems and amber.
Room 4: statutory items, sculptural figures, religious images.
Room 5: ancient clocks, mirrors, frames and silk products.
Room 6: molds and tools (guided tours).
Room 7: paleontology, replicas made in resin, dinosaur fossil remains.
