Pablo Etchevers Gentileza Selva Viva
Set in the perfect location, Selva Viva Theme Park offers the chance to come close to the rainforest and its dwellers and learn more about this fascinating ecosystem in the Province of Misiones. |
In a strategic location, meters away from the Triple Border milestone (separating Argentina, Brazil and Paraguay), there lies this novel theme park called Selva Viva (Live Rainforest), next to the gorgeous Amerian Hotel and the modern Iguazú Conventions and Events Center.
Selva Viva invites visitors to tour around the majesty of the Misiones rainforest inside a one-hectare venue along two circuits that expose the daily routine and development of this ecosystem that welcomes tourists from all over the world. |
Every morning, the day trail leads hikers along footbridges that unveil various natural attractions among which a butterfly sanctuary stands out. Several species of butterflies, an emblematic insect in this Province, gather up at this spot.
Children are usually fans of this park and they find two representative sites here: the Spider’s Nest and Ants’ Land, where visitors may get to understand the function of these two insects within the ecosystem as well as their life cycles. |
But the star of the show is the Bird Watching Viewpoint, a perfect place to discover different native bird species living in the canopies and showing off their plumage, colors, noises and singing.
At the end of the trail, a pond lodges river fish that captivate both anglers and naturalists. Species such as the dorado, pacú, surubí and sábalo swim around freely in front of everyone, displaying some of their distinctive features that reveal the way they move around the rivers, ponds and marshlands in Misiones. |

The Magic Comes at Night
Even though animals are usually appreciated during the daytime, it is at night when many species, especially the hunters, start to enjoy their freedom.
There is a trail specially prepared for such an adventure. At night, when silence comes to give way to other sounds, a new spectacle begins.
Called The History of the Rainforest Spirits, this singular proposal invites visitors to listen and see how magic may be perceived at each of the three stations that are covered in the company of a guide in charge of introducing these mythological beings. |
 |
The show revolves around the history of the rainforest, its degradation and the importance of its preservation for the present and future generations.
It is to be pointed out that the characters of this presentation come from Guaraní legends and myths. Visitors will learn who Yasy Yateré, Caá Yarí, Pombero and naughty Curupí are, among other figures.
The rainforests has secrets and a magical charm that leave a mark on people. We just need to dare to discover all that. |
