Lasts: Half a day.
Difficulty: Low.
Season September to May.
Forest Ranger: In Huechulafquen and Epulafquen, at the end of the excursion.
Signs and maintenance: Almost all the path used to be a road for cars and , thus, it is easy to go along it. From the Forest Ranger's house to the narrowing , the slope is a bit misleading.
Equipment: Light.
Start: The sign indicating the starting point of this walk is on Nº 62 Route at the crossing with the " Escorial". Junín de los Andes is 56 kilometers away.
Unique Stage: From the route to the Forest Ranger's Section
The path , in its first stage which lasts around fifteen minutes, goes on the slag heap from Achen Ñiyeu Volcano and then goes away getting to the outlet of Escorial Stream into Epulafquen Lake.
To go on, we will have to ford the stream and go along what used to be a road for cars.

It is a walk with no difficulties . At the beginning, the path goes around the lake very close to it and then, it goes up. As we go ahead, the wood becomes more attractive.
The outstanding flora are evergreen beeches, coihues and some maytens. It is very usual to find tracks of wildboars - if we look to the ground, we will notice that it is jumbled and scratched which is evidence of their presence in the area. |

We will go through an abandoned area which is easy to recognize since there are lines of poplars and some fences. Finally, after climbing for a while, there is a beautiful plain where the Forest ranger's Section is located. The view of Huechulafquen and Epulafquen Lakes is great. |

To go down to the narrowing , we must follow the old road and then a path. The remaining distance will take us half an hour walk. We should take into account that there is a fork near the narrowing and we must take the path to the left. The other path leads to the area called " El Contra". |

Return Journey:
We go back along the same path. |
