Jorge Romanutti Wind Park

In Pico Truncado you can visit the Wind Park and learn more about aerogenerators which use this everlasting resource without polluting the environment.

This park has two aerogenerators with three blades each with a capacity to generate 600 kw.each and supply 30 % of the total energy consumed in the city.

Each one of these aerogenerators replaces 6 of the previous ones, since they work with the latest technology: direct transmission converters automatically adapted to wind speed changes.

Wind energy in Patagonia dates from 1989 when four turbines were installed in Río Mayo, in the province of Chubut.

According to a report carried out by two scientific groups, Patagonia has the best wind on the planet for the speed and the exceptional regularity of its winds.

In Pico Truncado the average annual wind speed is 9.3 meters per second if we do not take into account the capacity of the wind when it is inconstant. This means that if an aeolic turbine has a nominal capacity of 100 KW at full speed, the engine will reach it on one every three days.
