A museum both particular and unique. Learn its history, its curiosities, its sounds and the thousands of shapes of the five hundred bells kept in this place.

Bell Museum

The only bell museum in Latin America can be visited at Mina Clavero. To do so, head for 900 Urquiza Street and identify the colonial building with a humble belfry in its doorway.
Once inside, the true history of the bells is found: from the most famous ones to those which represent a landmark.

Edgardo Gilardi, director of the museum and visitors guide, unveils the origin of the bells, their materials and their most unusual curiosities.
A visit along the history of this musical instrument explains the various uses it has had over the years, since ancient China, through X-century Europe, to the Pre-Colombian culture and our days.

At the moment of visiting the museum, there were 480 bells in exhibition and 170 to be classified.
It is important to point out that the museum is the result of the work done by the members of the Fundación Campana (Bell Foundation), which is a non-governmental organization that renders services along the entire Traslasierra Valley. Therefore, the money collected from the contribution ticket is destined to the maintenance of the museum building and to charity programs organized by the Foundation to help people with low resources in the area.
