At the entrance of Sarmiento Park, opposite España Square, you will find Emilio Caraffa Fine Arts Provincial Museum where different shows and activities take place in order to spread the different expressions of Current Art.
As you enter the majestic building of Neoclassic style- built with the aim of a showing room-, you will see different covered rooms which are white and show various works of art.

It is important to highlight that the displays are shown for a period of time according to the demands of the authors and, thus, Caraffa Museum is permanently showing artistic works all through the year. |

Appart from that, the museum has a Library specialized in Art, an Information and Data Center as well as a program of Guided Tours for schools and general public. |

The site you will be visiting was started being built in 1915 under the direction of Juan Kronfuss architect who was, at that time , General Director of Architecture of the Province of Cordoba. The building was finished the following year.
The name of the Museum was given in 1950 to play homage to the Artist born in Catamarca and adopted by Cordoba - Emilio A. Caraffa.
In 1962, the building was enlarged with a modern style providing a bigger area to show works of art.

As you go along the building , you will enjoy the artistic works of art which are either visual, photographic, paintings, drawings, engravings or sculptures, according to the show at the moment of your visit.
Appart from that, the museum has a valuable collection of works belonging to Argentinian Artists of the second half of the XIX century as well as works of Modern Artists which represent the different movements in current plastic arts.

Among the artists belonging to both periods outstand , in paintings, the works of Genaro Perez, Emilio Caraffa, Clara Gomez, Fernando Fader, Victor Pizarro and Emilio Pettoruti among others.
In plastic arts, the museum has collections of Lino Eneas Spilimbergo, Juan Carlos Victorica, Carlos Camilloni, Horacio Butler, Juan Carlos Castagnino, among the most outstanding artists.

Regarding sculptures, there are works of Pablo Curatella Manes, Aurelio Macci, Hector Valazza, Horacio Juarez, Clara ferrer Serrano, Miguel Angel Budini, Carlos Peiteado and others.
Appart from that, there are , in the collection, engravings of Pablo Picasso, a "Goya" which is amazing and the " Belle Pensive" - painting by Foujita.
