If you are not impressed by reptiles, snakes or spiders and just happen to be visiting the City of Oberá, do not miss the opportunity of seeing the largest and most complete zootoxicological center in the Republic of Argentina. |

At this location, Dr. Alejandro Vogt –specialist in medical zoopathy– has developed this herpetarium with the aim of studying the venom produced by snakes and other reptiles and use it for the development of various anti-ophidian serums. In turn, those who like to observe these singular animals may do it at this venue free of all danger.
The site is divided into various rooms, such as the ecological snake house, the crocodile house, the python house, the frog house and the biological lab that shelters a vivarium destined to the procreation of rodents and snakes.
Well-known for its studies on these animals, Dr. Alejandro Vogt is the author of the summary called “Why, How, When and Where Do the Ophidians”. In this work, he has classified the most popular snake species in the world according to their size, geographical habitat and degree of danger. |

Among the specimens that catch the attention of visitors, there is a 2.15-meter-long crocodile from the Mississippi River, a 3.16-meter-long anaconda from the Amazon River, and a river electric eel that can produce 1,200 watts when incited.
While touring around the facilities, visitors may appreciate the cages or deposits that have been especially conditioned to recreate the habitat and the appropriate temperature for the regular development of the various species, surrounded by the typical vegetation of Oberá. |
Other equally important specimens are the boas, the Chinese iguanas, the tegus, soft shell tortoises, snakes, rattlesnakes, yararás and toads.
As far as spiders are concerned, the Misiones Zootoxicological Center has multiple specimens of various sizes and colors. Visitors just need to dare enter in order to see them. |
