Carménère was one of the most widely grown grapes in the early nineteenth century in the regions of Médoc and Graves in Burdeoux, France, where it is still grown. In 1860, a disaster hit the area: French wines were attached by philloxera, which caused all European vineyards in general to become extinct. Little by little, they began to be replaced by other less sensitive varieties.

In Argentina, it may be found across small extensions in the Provinces of La Rioja and Mendoza.

Wine made with this variety feature an almost crimson hue with very expressive black cherry, raspberry, plum, blackberry, ripe paprika and chocolat aromas. It has an intense flavor, without much acidity, with powerful firm and solid sweet tannins, warm and spicy ripe black fruit.

It is recommended to be served at 14 º to 16 ºC, accompanied by pasta and dishes without spices, such as lamb, pork or other kinds of meat or stews and vegetables.

Restaurante La Carménère is surrounded by vineyards and unparalleled scenes. Its emblematic wine is merged with its family history. The tradition and quality of services provided for customers combine the unique features of this variety with regional cuisine from Mendoza, thus managing a perfect match of all the senses, elevated to enjoy an experience related to cuisine and wine sensations.
