Lakes Los Giles and Pulmari

Aluminé is the starting point of this excursion, part of the Pehuenia circuit, through spectacular woods, valleys and lakes.

Behind every hill, meandering along the roads near Aluminé, nature displays the most characteristic features of the area. Close by are the lakes known as Laguna de los Giles and Pulmarí.

We drove north to Pehuenia circuit to make the most of the natural light of long summer days. We
bordered River Pulmarí for a while until we reached Laguna de los Giles, where we stopped to admire this small, charming lake and its picturesque surroundings.

From the shore we saw some anglers, slowly gliding by in their float tubes. In a lake where motorboats are banned, they gave a wonderful impression of freedom and independence as they paddled by in search of better trout.

We noticed many nests and, as the birds complained loudly, we did our best not to disturb them. On the opposite bank, we saw an organized campsite called El Fátima.

We continued towards Lake Pulmarí amid monkey puzzle and cypress trees. Huge, jagged crags rise in the middle of the lake and we took some time to admire them and the wild ducks and upland geese happily swimming in the crystal clear water.

These spots are especially popular among hiking, climbing and sport fishing lovers.

We took lots of photos to remember this amazing family outing. Sitting comfortably and gazing at the incredible landscape close to Aluminé is also a great holiday ‘sport’.
